Acolytes, the wait is over. At Job Lv 40 you can go on a pilgrimage, pass the spiritual training and become a Priest. Priests heal whole areas, put shields and buffs on the party and drive out the undead like nobody else. Acolyte effects now also look the way they do in RO: people complained about them, and rightly so.
How to become a Priest
It all starts in the Prontera church. The test works the same way as in RO:
- Application. Bishop Paul accepts it from an Acolyte at Job Lv 40.
- Pilgrimage. Visit three people: Father Rubalkabara in the north-east of the Prontera ruins, Sister Mathilda in the desert north of Morroc and Father Yosuke by the lake north-west of Prontera. Each of them prays for you, and if you die on the road, you wake up next to the last one you visited. They tell you so, so it won't come as a surprise.
- Spiritual training. Peter S. Alberto takes you to the test hall. You have 5 minutes to kill 13 zombies named after sins. Then comes a corridor with four tempters: Deviruchi, Doppelganger, Dark Lord and Baphomet. Each offers you something, and you have to turn every one of them down. Six mummies wait in the last hall.
- Vow. Sister Cecilia asks eight questions. Get one wrong and you have to take the vow again.
- Job change. Go back to Bishop Paul. At Job Lv 50 you can skip the pilgrimage, and the reward is a Bible instead of a Book.
The training is done alone, and only one Acolyte can be in the hall at a time. If someone is already inside, Peter asks you to wait. If you die, log out or leave the map, you start the training over and the hall is free again.
Spend all your skill points before the job change, just like with the Hunter and the Blacksmith. The quest log walks you through every step and shows who to go to.
In RO the tempters throw those who fail into the Clock Tower, Glast Heim and Mjolnir. Of those places we only have the Geffen dungeon, which is where Doppelganger sends you. The others drop you in Prontera by the church.

Skills
Healing and protection.
- Sanctuary heals your side on a 5 × 5 area and burns undead and demons. Costs a Blue Gemstone.
- Kyrie Eleison puts up a shield that takes hits until it runs out.
- Safety Wall works the same as the Mage's: it blocks melee hits.
- Resurrection brings the fallen back. Also costs a Blue Gemstone.

Buffs.
- Impositio Manus adds weapon attack, Suffragium speeds up an ally's next spell.
- Aspersio makes a weapon holy for a Holy Water, B.S. Sacramenti does the same for armor. For Sacramenti two more Acolytes or Priests have to stand at your sides.
- Magnificat doubles the party's SP recovery, Gloria gives everyone nearby +30 LUK.
- Slow Poison stops poison from draining HP, Status Recovery removes stone, freeze, stun and sleep.
Against the undead.
- Turn Undead banishes an undead monster on the spot. If it fails, the target still takes damage.
- Magnus Exorcismus covers a 7 × 7 cross with holy light, and undead and demons inside it burn. Also costs a Blue Gemstone.
- Lex Divina silences, Lex Aeterna doubles the next damage to the target.

Passive: Mace Mastery for maces and Increase SP Recovery.
Redemptio isn't learned with points. Sister Linus in the church teaches it to a Priest with Resurrection who brings 30 Holy Water and 20 Blue Gemstones. It doesn't always work: the higher your Job Lv and Resurrection, the better the chance. If it fails, Sister Linus keeps one of each and gives the rest back. The quest is listed under "Available quests".
Effects as in RO
Acolyte and Priest effects were rebuilt from the original client: Heal, Blessing, Increase AGI, Angelus, Kyrie, Magnificat, Gloria, Sanctuary, Magnus and the rest. Sizes, colors, height and sounds now match RO.
- Ruwach flashes with rays on whoever it reveals.
- Warp Portal looks like the skill portal from RO, not like a map exit. On a slope its ring lies along the ground.
- Anyone who leaves by Teleport, wings or a portal leaves a blue pillar behind.
- Stun, poison, curse, blindness and silence play a sound when they start, and melting ice plays a cracking sound.
- A monster that can't cast spells shows the "…" emote.

The Priest on the site
The site now has a Priest page: the role, the job change step by step, stats, tips and the skill tree. On the world map the Prontera church now links to both the Acolyte and the Priest.
Small things
- A bug report came in about blindness: the light circle around your character was a share of the screen, so zooming the camera out showed much more. Now the circle is set in map cells: zoom out and the circle gets smaller.
The client will update itself when it starts. Thanks to everyone who writes to "Report a bug" and the forum: the effects were redone because of your complaints, and blindness was fixed after a report.
