West of Geffen, Glast Heim is now open: a cursed castle, the dungeons beneath it and the MVP Dark Lord. From Aldebaran you can now reach snowy Lutie with its Toy Factory, or take the northern road to the flying city of Juno. A boat from Alberta goes to Turtle Island. Two new jobs are here: Monk and Rogue. NPC shops got a new window, and the quest book now knows every quest in the game.

Glast Heim

The Glast Heim fields at night, the castle gate

The entrance is at the western edge of Geffen Field 6. Every map has its own music, minimap and spot on the world map:

  • the field in front of the castle, where it is always night;
  • the abbey, the churchyard, the houses and the staircase;
  • the two-floor castle and the Knight Hall;
  • the prison, the four-level sewers and the caves below them.

Leaving the prison puts you at one of four random spots in the castle.

Monsters. Familiar faces include Ghoul, Zombie, Wraith, Mimic, Alice, Gargoyle, Whisper and Hunter Fly. New ones: Abysmal Knight, Evil Druid, Dark Illusion, Dark Frame, Sage Worm, Raydric and Raydric Archer, Wind Ghost, Khalitzburg, Carat, Bloody Knight, Injustice, Zombie Prisoner, Skeleton Prisoner, Rybio, Phendark and Sting. Each has its own drops and card.

Bosses. The MVP Dark Lord lives in the churchyard. A kill gives the MVP reward and leaves a tombstone with a respawn timer. He casts Meteor Storm and Fire Wall, curses and calls Dark Illusions for help. Glast Heim also has four mini-bosses with their own escorts: Chimera, Owl Baron, Zealotus and Majoruros.

Monster skills. Worth knowing before you go:

  • Bloody Knight switches to the Fire element, so bring Water.
  • Wind Ghost, Sphinx and Marduk hit with magic for 15 seconds after Demon Shock Attack. You can't dodge it; only MDEF helps.
  • Wind Ghost sets a trap that drains up to 80 % of your SP.

The Zealotus Mask quest

Zealotus, mistress of the Glast Heim prison

Zealotus, the mistress of the prison, wants help with her lover Phendark: he has grown afraid of people and has almost no demon left in him. You'll talk to Rybio, feed Phendark 369 Dark Crystal Fragments and hurt his pride properly. The reward is a Zealotus Mask with your name on it.

From Base Lv 50 the quest shows up under "Available" in the quest book. The book walks you through each step and counts the items you need.

NPC emotions

NPCs in dialog now show emotions above their heads and effects, and everyone nearby sees them. The heroes of the mask quest got them first: Phendark cries and gets angry, Zealotus blows a kiss, and a demon appears when the pact is made.

The Priest trial changed too: if you give in to Dark Lord's or Baphomet's temptation, you get thrown out to the abbey or the Glast Heim field.

Lutie

Lutie: the square with the Christmas tree and the Kafra

Santa Claus by the eastern wall of Aldebaran now takes you to the Lutie fields for free. It's Christmas there all year.

  • The field has Marin, Sasquatch, Baby Hatii and the MVP Hatii with his escort.
  • The Kafra in the town center saves your respawn point, opens storage and rents a cart. A teleport back to Aldebaran costs 1200 zeny.
  • The "Snowman's Friend" quest starts at Base Lv 30 and is in the quest book. Santa Claus, the Snowman, the clown Hashoki, the orphans and other townsfolk are part of it. The reward is a present from the Snowman's sack.
  • The inventor Titicupe built a machine that makes hats from materials: Raccoon Hat, Spore Hat, Wonder Nutshell, Rainbow Eggshell, Blush, Chef Hat, Candle and Cake Hat.
  • The Mad Hatter sells Party Hat, Straw Hat, Cowboy Hat, Sombrero and Beanie.
  • The town also has tool, armor, gift and weapon shops and a chef's assistant.

Toy Factory

The Toy Factory warehouse: presents, Christmas Cookies and a Myst Case

The factory door is by the northern wall of Lutie, next to the bulletin board. It leads to the warehouse, and from there to the toy inspection floor.

  • Cookie, Christmas Cookie, Myst Case and Cruiser live here. The warehouse also has Marin, Drops, Poporing and the mini-bosses Mastering, Angeling and Chepet.
  • The MVP Stormy Knight waits on the inspection floor with a Christmas Goblin escort.
  • Stormy Knight and Hatii cast Storm Gust and Wide Freeze and can freeze you. Christmas Cookie casts Lex Aeterna, so the next hit on you deals double damage.
  • The bulletin board at the entrance warns you about the bosses.

Turtle Island

Turtle Island: Gotanblue's ship at the pier

First talk to Grandpa Turtle at the Alberta inn. He tells you about the island and sends you to the sailor Gotanblue, who will then take you to Turtle Island for 10,000 zeny.

The island has five maps: the island itself (always at night), the dungeon, the village of good turtles, the Turtle Palace and the underground swamp. Monsters: Spring Rabbit, Thara Frog, Permeter, Solider, Assaulter, Freezer, Heater, Dragon Tail, Pest and Wanderer. The MVP Turtle General sits in the palace with his escort. At the pier you'll find a potion and wing merchant, the Alberta guard knights and Gotanblue to take you back.

The "Turtle Island" quest starts at Base Lv 50 and is in the quest book. The ship's log at the pier sends you down one of three paths:

  • a stone tomb with bananas;
  • the swordsman Odin's cache under the turtle pillar: Red Gemstone, Sardonyx, Red Scarf and more;
  • the security key, three turtle stones and the statue in the palace. You get a Dead Branch, and with some luck a Gift Box, Old Card Album or Old Purple Box.

Whichever path you get, the boat to the island stays open for you after that.

Juno

Juno: the square, the Kafra and the airship representative

The northern exit of Aldebaran leads into the fields, and six maps later the road reaches the southern gate of Juno, the flying city of the Sages.

  • The city has three Kafras, tool and material shops, Mr. King's shop, a magic shop, a chef's assistant, a pet groomer, a guide, soldiers and townsfolk.
  • The Aldebaran Kafra now teleports to Juno for 1200 zeny, and the Juno Kafras take you back.
  • The airship doesn't fly yet. Instead, the airship representative sends you to Prontera, Izlude, Geffen, Morroc, Payon or Alberta for 1800 zeny.
  • All twelve Juno fields around the city are open. New monsters there: Geographer, Grand Peco, Beetle King, Novus, Rafflesia, Goat, Demon Pungus, Driller and Sleeper.
  • Juno Field 5 is home to the mini-boss Arc Angeling and its escort. It comes back about an hour after it dies.
  • The roads from the fields to Hugel and Einbroch are closed for now: those towns aren't in the game yet.

The forge in the Juno shops: refining, ore purification and repairs

Six doors from the city lead to the Juno shops: the weapon, armor and tool dealers, a bookshop, a tavern and the townsfolk's homes. In the forge Lambert refines weapons and armor, Dilemma sells Phracon and Emveretarcon, Delight purifies ore and the repairman fixes broken gear.

The reading hall of the Juno Library

The Juno Library has scholars, students and guild alchemists, and books and scrolls on the shelves that you can read. In the Palace a secretary and a guard greet you. The Juno Labyrinth is a tangle of rooms whose portals send you to a random spot, so finding the way out takes some effort. The quests of the NPCs here will come later; for now they just talk.

The Juno Labyrinth: a room with random portals

The Monster Museum in the Sage Academy

The Sage Academy now has a Monster Museum. Glass tubes hold 29 monsters and 3 eggs, each with a plaque describing it. There's a guide and a scroll merchant. The Sage job exam isn't here yet and will come in a later update; the houses and the arena for it are already built.

Monk

A Monk with five spirit spheres

An Acolyte with Job Lv 40 can become a Monk at the St. Capitolina Abbey. The path goes like this: a mentor and a set of items, a prayer, then a trial of your choice (collect 30 mushrooms in the mushroom garden or run 9 laps along a trapped path), a corridor of undead and an oath. At the end you get a Waghnak. The quest log guides you step by step.

  • A Monk holds up to five spirit spheres, each adding 3 damage. Everyone around can see them.
  • Strikes link into a combo: Raging Trifecta Blow, Raging Quadruple Blow, Raging Thrust and Asura Strike. Press the next strike in time; you don't need to pick a target.
  • Asura Strike needs Fury and five spheres. It uses all your SP and goes through defense and evasion, and then your SP doesn't regenerate on its own for 5 minutes.
  • Other skills: Iron Fists, Spiritual Cadence, Dodge, Occult Impaction, Throw Spirit Sphere, Mental Strength, Root, Fury and Snap.
  • Ki Translation and Ki Explosion are taught by the abbey monks.

Rogue

The Rogue Guild: Markie behind the counter

A Thief with Job Lv 40 can become a Rogue in the guild beneath Pharos Lighthouse island. First Markie checks you, then you gather items and 10,000 zeny, learn the password to a secret house and get through the maze. The reward is a Gladius. Anyone who isn't a thief and steps into the maze trap gets thrown out to the Glast Heim churchyard.

  • Back Stab works only from behind. The server now tracks which way a monster is facing.
  • Divest takes a monster's weapon, shield, armor or helm for a couple of minutes. It doesn't work on bosses.
  • Plagiarism copies the skill a monster used on the Rogue. The copy is labeled "(Plagiarism)" in the skill window.
  • There's also Gank and Mug for stealing, Stalk, Sightless Mind, Scribble for writing on the ground and Haggle for a discount at NPCs.
  • Close Confine is taught by the guild's rogues if you beat them in a duel at the training arena.

NPC shops

NPC shop: selling, the cart and the total

No more selling items one at a time. The shop window has been redone:

  • The merchant's goods or your items are on the left, the cart is on the right. Move an item with a double click or by dragging.
  • Selling takes the whole stack by default. With "Don't ask for quantity" checked, you won't get the quantity prompt.
  • "Sell" and "Buy" process the whole cart at once, and the earnings show up as one line in chat.
  • If you're short on zeny, chat tells you so.
  • Right-click an item to see its description next to the shop.
  • Drag the bottom-right corner to make the window taller; it remembers the size.

Quest book

The quest book: the "Turtle Island" quest and the way to the ship's log

The quest book now has every quest in the game.

  • "Take quest" no longer starts the quest by itself. The book shows you the way to the NPC, and the NPC gives you the quest.
  • New in the book: the Orc Hero helm, the Assassin exam, the Assassin skills and every quest in this update.
  • The daily "sticky mucus for the alchemist" now shows where to get Sticky Mucus.

Website

  • The English site now uses English names for dungeons, interiors and vendors.
  • Tifa the auctioneer by the western Kafra in Prontera moved a couple of steps north, right above the Kafra.
  • The "Download" button on the app page now works with a normal tap in any browser, Firefox for Android included. Thanks for the bug report!

The client updates itself on launch.
