Blacksmith
Merchant's second job: forging weapons, repairs and buffs for melee.

- Nextsecond job is the last one

Role
The Blacksmith is the Merchant's second job. Blacksmiths forge weapons and elemental stones, repair broken items and buff themselves and the party for melee: Adrenaline Rush speeds up axe and mace attacks, Power-Thrust adds damage, Weapon Perfection removes the monster size penalty, Maximize Power always deals the weapon's top damage. Hammer Fall stuns monsters around. Merchant skills stay.
Forging. A hammer (
Iron Hammer,
Golden Hammer,
Oridecon Hammer) or a
Mini Furnace opens the "Forge" window with
everything you can make right now: the furnace makes
Iron,
Steel, elemental stones and
Star Crumb,
the hammer makes weapons. A weapon can take an elemental stone and Star Crumbs (up to three together). Forged weapons
carry the smith's name. Christopher in the Geffen workshop sells hammers, furnaces and anvils; an
Anvil in the
bag raises the chance. Materials are spent even on failure.
Job change
- Where: the Blacksmith Guild in Geffen — Altiregen takes the application.
- Requires: a Merchant at Job Lv 40 or higher. Spend every skill point on Merchant skills first: unspent points do not carry over to the second job, and the guild won't change your job while you have them.
- Trade exam: Geschupenschte in the Alberta smithy asks 10 questions — one mistake is allowed.
- Special order: gather materials for Geschupenschte, deliver the finished item to the customer — in Geffen, Morroc, Izlude, Payon or the Alberta port — and bring him the receipt.
- Craft exam: Mitehmaeeuh in the Blacksmith Guild asks five questions and gives a Blacksmith Hammer — take it to Altiregen.
- Reward: 5
Steel, or 30 at Job Lv 49.
The quest journal leads through the exam step by step and tells where to find the order's materials.

A fighter takes STR and DEX, like a Merchant. A forging smith takes DEX and LUK: they, Job Lv and skills set the forging chance.
Tips
- The second job's Skills window has "First" and "Second" tabs.
- Weapon Repair fixes broken items — your own and a neighbour's — for ore or metal.
- Ore Discovery sometimes brings ore from killed monsters.
- Quest skills are not learned with points. Unfair Trick (Mammonite costs 10 % less) is taught by Akkie in
south-east Geffen at Job Lv 30:
Steel, 5
Coal,
Detrimindexta,
Iron Hammer and 500 zeny. Greed
(picks up every item in 5 × 5 cells) is taught by Goodman in south Geffen: come with a full inventory.
