Rogue

Thief's second job: stealing, strikes from Hiding, Divest and a copied enemy skill.

Role

The Rogue is the Thief's second job: a nimble fighter who steals, strikes from ambush and disarms enemies. Gank sometimes steals an item with a normal attack, Mug steals zeny. From Hiding the Rogue can walk slowly (Stalk), stab in the back with Back Stab or hit everyone around with Sightless Mind. Four Divest skills strip a monster's weapon, shield, armor and helm, so it hits weaker and defends worse. Plagiarism remembers the skill a monster hit the Rogue with and lets the Rogue use it. The tree also holds skills of other jobs: Sword Mastery, Vulture's Eye, Double Strafe and Remove Trap. Thief skills stay.

Job change

  • Where: the Rogue Guild, a dungeon under Pharos Lighthouse Island. The entrance is on the island, not far from Comodo.
  • What you need: a Thief with Job Lv 40 or higher. Spend every skill point on Thief skills: unspent points do not carry over to the second job, and the job cannot be changed while you have any.
  • Markie at the guild gives a test: 10 questions about the world and about rogues. You need nearly all of them right; if you fail, you can try again.
  • Mr. Smith takes 10,000 zeny and whichever set of items comes up, and tells you the password to a rogue's secret house.
  • Secret house: the password opens the door. A junior rogue sends you into the maze under the guild — get through to the exit past the undead. Sometimes Smith asks for another, bigger set; then the way leads through a tunnel full of traps.
  • Back to Markie for the reward: Gladius (Gladius at Job Lv 50) and the Rogue job.

The quest log guides you through every step and shows whom to see next.

Stats

Main Secondary
AGI, STR DEX, VIT

AGI gives attack speed and dodge, STR damage, DEX hit and the chance of Divest and stealing. For bow Rogues the main stat is DEX.

Stealing

  • Gank triggers by itself on a normal attack on a monster without a bow and steals like Steal. The higher Gank and Steal, the more often.
  • Mug steals zeny, once from each monster and never from bosses. After a theft the monster may turn on the Rogue.
  • Haggle makes NPC purchases cheaper. It does not stack with Discount: the bigger discount applies.

From ambush

  • Stalk lets you walk in Hiding, but much slower.
  • Back Stab works only from behind a monster: it has to face away from the Rogue. It never misses and ends Hiding; afterwards the monster turns to the Rogue. Weaker with a bow.
  • Sightless Mind works only from Hiding: it hits everyone around and may stun and blind.

Divest

  • Divest Weapon, Shield, Armor and Helm strip a monster's gear for a couple of minutes: attack −25 %, defense −15 %, VIT −40 % or INT −40 %. The more DEX the Rogue has compared to the monster, the higher the chance. Bosses resist.

Plagiarism

  • When a monster hits the Rogue with a skill and does not kill, the Rogue remembers that skill and can use it. The copy is never above the Plagiarism level. There is one copy: a new one replaces the old. Skills of the Rogue's own tree are not copied.
  • The copy shows in the skill window as its own row marked "(Plagiarism)" and can be put on the hotbar.

Tips

  • Snatch sometimes moves the Rogue and the monster to a random place on the map — handy to lure an enemy away.
  • Scribble writes a message on the ground for 3 minutes (needs a Red Gemstone); a map can have only one message. Remover erases messages around.
  • Slyness: when two Rogues with this skill sit next to each other, monsters leave them alone — except bosses.
  • The quest skill Close Confine (holds an enemy close: neither can leave, and the Rogue dodges better) is taught by the rogues of the guild.
